England men v Australia18–22 June 202711:00 / TBC

England meet Australia from Friday 18 to Tuesday 22 June 2027, with the first ball scheduled for 11:00. This is the opening men’s Ashes Test, so the early exchanges set the argument for the whole summer. The weekend falls on Days 2 and 3: useful dates if you want consecutive cricket without taking a full working week away.

Trent Bridge first staged a Test in June 1899, when England and Australia drew and W. G. Grace made his final Test appearance. Look across towards the Pavilion before the first over and take in the contrast with the taller Radcliffe Road structure opposite. The two ends provide an easy way to orient yourself once the field starts changing.

The last men’s Ashes visit brought Stuart Broad’s 8 for 15 in 2015. Australia were dismissed for 60, and England won by an innings and 78 runs in three days. That finish makes a useful point for a Nottingham trip: keep something enjoyable in reserve for any time the cricket leaves free.

Choose Friday for the first toss and opening spell of the series. Saturday pairs the Ashes occasion with a weekend visit, while Sunday should let you follow a match whose shape is clearer. Two adjacent days make an appealing Nottingham break: you can watch the significance of an innings or partnership develop between visits.

Monday’s lower adult tariff makes Day 4 worth considering if your dates are flexible. Tuesday is the cheapest adult option, but by then the match may be over or need only a short final session. Keep a Castle or Wollaton outing ready and choose accommodation whose cancellation deadline fits your plans.

A family should compare its complete basket before choosing between a cheaper adult position and an area with junior tickets. Keep the confirmation showing each date, seat and ticket holder.

Stands

Begin with the cricket angle. Radcliffe Road faces along the pitch and its higher tiers make it easier to follow field changes. Fox Road, branded Acrisure in the 2027 buying guide, sits side-on. Bridgford Road wraps the opposite side towards the Pavilion, bringing a different perspective on the square and boundary.

Radcliffe Road and Acrisure face afternoon sunlight; covered rear positions in William Clarke and the Pavilion are useful starting points for shade. Look at the plan with your intended arrival and departure times in mind. A full June day asks more of your seat than a short evening visit, especially if you are sensitive to heat or glare.

The 2027 allocation includes members-only Pavilion seats, Hound Road Lower and central Radcliffe Road middle-tier blocks. Public seats remain across several Radcliffe tiers. In Bridgford Road, the blocks nearest the Pavilion are alcohol-free: a useful option when a quieter drinking environment matters to your party.

Radcliffe Road lies north-northwest, Acrisure east-northeast, Larwood and Voce east, Hound Road southeast, Pavilion south-southeast, Bridgford Road southwest and William Clarke west-northwest. On the day

Session times

  • Before play — Find your stand, water point and meeting place
  • 11:00 — Scheduled first ball
  • Intervals — Follow the day’s announcements for lunch and tea
  • After stumps — Allow time to leave the ground and cross back towards the station

Pack for a long June day outside: a refillable bottle, a hat, a light waterproof and something warm for the final session. Keep the bag compact enough to settle beside your feet without crowding the person next to you. Separate the ticket and anything needed at the entrance so you can reach them without unpacking your lunch.

Trent Bridge permits your own food and soft drinks in suitable cans, plastic or cardboard containers. Leave glass and metal cutlery at home. Outside alcohol is prohibited for the public at major fixtures including this Test. The ground’s refreshment outlets take cashless payments and water refill points are available.

Once inside, locate your row, the nearest water point and the route back to the concourse before sitting down for 11:00. Share the stand and seat number with everyone in your group. During a tight spell, make food trips between overs and keep the aisle clear for those returning to their places.

For a child’s first Ashes day, split the outing into manageable parts: the opening spell, a snack and a chance to stretch legs before returning to the score. An alcohol-free Bridgford Road booking can support that plan, while an agreed meeting point saves confusion when different people leave for refreshments.

Getting there

Nottingham station is around twenty minutes on foot from Trent Bridge. The approach takes you towards London Road and across the Trent into West Bridgford. Add time for the entrance queue and for finding your gate; the railway station and the cricket ground are separate parts of the journey.

Meadows Embankment and Queens Walk are tram options with a walk of roughly twenty minutes to the ground. From Meadows Embankment, the route follows the riverside. NET’s park-and-ride system can suit a drive into Nottingham, but it still leaves that final outdoor stretch; compare it with a booked taxi if distance is the difficult part.

Bridge Field parking for the 2027 Ashes is listed in the club’s official ticket system. Reserve a pass before setting off and use its arrival instructions. Keep the car-park booking with your match ticket. A hotel parking place only solves the overnight part of the trip, and nearby residential streets make a poor fallback.

On the way back, agree whether your group is crossing into the city or staying for dinner in West Bridgford. If you have a fixed train, choose a realistic leaving time before the final session begins. That decision is easier to make together than while following a close finish from different seats.

Where to stay

West Bridgford is the natural base for staying close to the cricket and eating south of the river. Central Nottingham works well if you want the Lace Market, the Castle and a wider city evening around your match. Choose the riverbank that best fits the rest of your trip, then check the exact walk from the hotel door.

For Friday and Saturday tickets, compare a Thursday arrival with an early Friday train. Arriving the night before can leave more time for breakfast and finding the ground. For a possible fifth day, read the room’s cancellation deadline carefully and decide what you would enjoy doing in Nottingham if the match finishes early.

Evenings out

The Larwood & Voce on Fox Road keeps the evening beside the ground. Its pub and kitchen are named after the Nottinghamshire bowlers, making it an easy continuation of a day spent discussing fast bowling. Reserve around a comfortable post-match arrival, especially if your group hopes to watch the final over.

For a city-centre evening, head back across the river to the Lace Market. The Cock & Hoop sits beside Lace Market Hotel on High Pavement and gives you a specific meeting point before choosing dinner. Keep everyone’s route simple if some are returning to West Bridgford and others have trains to catch.

Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem sits by the Castle and is known for its rock-cut setting. It pairs naturally with a Castle visit on a spare day or an early finish. Choose it for the setting and a drink; leave time to enjoy the stop instead of squeezing it between stumps and a departing train.

Non-match day

A Trent Bridge Classic Tour takes roughly two hours, with the Wynne-Thomas Library and Radcliffe Road facilities among its highlights. Current advertised prices are £10 for adults and £5 for eligible concessions; an adult with one child aged fifteen or under is £10. Departures are on selected Tuesdays and Saturdays, booked in advance.

Nottingham Castle offers gardens, art and museum galleries, including local lace history and Robin Hood displays. Choose a morning or an afternoon and give the visit room to breathe. It is an appealing way to give a partner or family member something beyond cricket on a longer stay.

Wollaton Hall offers a different day out, with the Natural History Museum and surrounding deer park. Plan the journey separately from your ground commute and keep a respectful distance from the deer. The indoor collection and outdoor walk give you choices if the June weather changes during your visit.

Hospitality

Trent Bridge’s 2027 options include shared suites, private boxes and outdoor enclosures. The price guide also distinguishes Century Club and merchandise bundles from standard seats. Decide first whether your group values a private space, included food or a particular view, then compare packages for the same Ashes day.

Ask the club to put the stand, seat, meal arrangements and access route in your confirmation. For a mixed group, check junior admission and dietary needs before collecting everyone’s payment. Hospitality and bundled tickets use their own terms, so keep those alongside the booking when planning a day that could be shortened by weather or an early finish.
