Hound Road Stand at Trent Bridge: choosing a Test seat

Hound Road gives you a choice of two levels at Trent Bridge’s southern end. For the 2027 Ashes, the public allocation is upstairs; the lower tier is reserved for members. Both look back towards Radcliffe Road from a slight angle, while the upper level adds the height that helps you read changes in the field.

Best for: An elevated southern-end view, with public upper-tier seats and designated wheelchair positions on both levels.

Watching a Test from Hound Road Stand

From Hound Road you follow the pitch towards Radcliffe Road with a little sideways offset. The angle still makes bowling spells easy to follow, while revealing more of the square than a perfectly central position behind the stumps. The lower level puts nearby players closer in your foreground; upstairs, the field spreads out beneath you and changes in boundary protection become easier to pick out.

The 2027 allocation separates the two levels by eligibility. Hound Road Lower is a members’ area, while ordinary public buyers can choose Hound Road Upper. Within that upper tier, the club points to central blocks for standard-seat value. The first two rows, A and B, are a separate padded-seat merchandise offer, so moving to the front changes the product as well as the distance from the field.

Sun through the three sessions

Hound Road’s covered rear seating has morning shade. The opening spell can therefore be a sheltered part of the day if your row is well under the roof. Seats closer to the front have greater exposure to the sky, even though the stand as a whole is described as having covered rear rows. The upper and lower levels also place spectators at different heights beneath the structure.

The afternoon guidance for Hound Road is mixed sun and shade. After lunch, its southern angle gives a different exposure from the stronger afternoon sun facing Acrisure and Larwood & Voce. Through the final session, row depth and the open front still matter: a roof shelters from above but does not enclose the seating. Choose Hound Road for its view and covered-rear option without assigning every upper-tier seat the same shade pattern.

Hound Road Stand on an Ashes day

Hound Road has both a county-member setting downstairs and a public Ashes crowd upstairs. For a group that enjoys discussing a long spell, the upper view gives everyone a broad picture of the field to talk about. The lower-tier membership restriction is important for mixed groups: possessing a public ticket elsewhere does not give a companion the same reserved seating access.

The Derek Randall Suite is associated with Hound Road, but its major-match hospitality is a distinct purchase. Likewise, the upper tier’s outdoor enclosures offer a group space with package benefits beyond an ordinary seat. These products should not be confused with the domestic Clubhouse arrangements. For a straightforward Ashes day watching from the terrace, the standard public upper-tier allocation is the relevant option.

Finding your way around

Hound Road has designated wheelchair viewing on both its lower and upper levels. A passenger lift reaches the upper terrace and Derek Randall Suite, making the elevated view a possibility for visitors who need that route. The booking should specify the wheelchair position and companion arrangements: an ordinary row in the same tier may involve a different final approach from the lift landing.

The adapted toilet at Hound Road West is beside the west stairwell doors serving the Derek Randall Suite. The club’s recent Test guide also lists baby-changing facilities within Hound Road. These are useful landmarks to identify when you reach the stand, because the two-tier layout separates your seating height from some circulation routes. Food and drink included in a Derek Randall hospitality booking follow that package; an ordinary upper-tier ticket uses the matchday concourse facilities.

2027 Ashes seats and prices

Ordinary Hound Road Ashes seats are Category 1. Adults pay £155 on each of Days 1–3, £125 on Day 4 and £40 on Day 5. In the lower member area, the tariff also provides under-21 and under-16 prices; those concessions do not extend to ordinary public Category 1 seating upstairs. This is a meaningful difference when members and non-members compare a family’s options.

Rows A and B in Hound Road Upper contain padded seats sold with Ashes merchandise and a commentary headset. Outdoor enclosures add a private group space and hamper, while other premium seats have their own tariff. None should be compared with the £155 standard seat without accounting for its inclusions. Public buyers seeking the ordinary rate should look at the upper-tier central blocks identified by Nottinghamshire, then compare the exact category and product in the booking system.
