About Off to the Test Match

An independent guide to watching Test cricket: choosing grounds, seats and journeys in England and overseas, operated by Does Your Duck Quack?

A trip built around the cricket

Off to the Test Match is for people who want to spend a day, a few days or a whole tour watching Test cricket. The match is the centre of the trip, but choosing the seat and getting back afterwards matter too. We bring those decisions together so you can work out what suits your visit before you book.

Our collection covers grounds in England, Australia, South Africa, India and the West Indies. The English guides include the 2027 Ashes venues and the other grounds in our collection. Overseas coverage is growing: some grounds have detailed stand and accessibility guides, while others have shorter visitor notes that explain what still needs confirmation.

A place in this directory means a ground has a Test story to explore. It does not mean a Test is scheduled there in every season. The fixture pages distinguish confirmed matches, past allocations and dates that have not yet been announced.

How we put a guide together

We begin with the people responsible for the match and the ground. Cricket boards provide fixture programmes; clubs and venue operators publish seating plans, admission conditions and ticket information. Transport operators help us explain the journey. We link these sources so you can check the detail that matters to your booking.

Checks are dated because a ticket release, gate arrangement or bag rule can change. Where a price or arrangement is not confirmed, we say so. We avoid turning an old match announcement into a promise about the next Test. A seller’s live seat map remains the place to check what you can actually buy.

Stand guidance is intended to help you make a shortlist. Roofs, tiers and compass positions can explain likely exposure, but they cannot guarantee shade for every row throughout a long day. Accessibility requirements also deserve a direct conversation with the venue. Use the linked contacts to confirm your particular seat, route and assistance needs.

How the site is funded

Some accommodation links take you to Booking.com through an affiliate programme. If you make an eligible booking after following one, the site may earn a commission. Those links are identified where they appear, and the affiliate disclosure explains the arrangement. The presence of a hotel link does not mean accommodation is included with your cricket ticket.

We are an independent visitor guide. We do not sell match tickets, allocate seats or act on behalf of cricket boards, clubs or stadiums. Official ticket links take you to the relevant provider; questions about a purchase or a refund belong with that provider.
