Western Terrace at Headingley: choosing a Test seat
Choose the Western Terrace for an open, side-on seat opposite the East Stand at the women’s Ashes Test, 24–27 June 2027. Its name covers several enclosures, so start with the section of terrace your group wants. The Fanzone, Popular Enclosure and 1863 Enclosure have different booking identities within the same western boundary.
Best for: An outdoor side-on view, with a choice between the Fanzone and the other terrace enclosures.

Watching across the pitch from the west
The Western Terrace puts the batting crease across your line of sight. Watch how a batter moves into a drive, how far the wicketkeeper stands back and where the close catchers gather. For the 2027 Test, this is a useful choice if you enjoy the whole scene around a delivery as much as the bowling line.
Near the front of the terrace, the boundary fielder becomes a regular part of your afternoon. Farther up its stepped rows, the wider field is easier to take in. Decide which matters most before comparing tickets within a named enclosure. The terrace extends along the west side, so a seat towards either end changes the angle across the wicket.
The Western Terrace has a documented place in men’s Ashes history: after England’s 2023 Headingley win, Ben Stokes singled out its support. That connection helps explain the stand’s reputation. The women’s Test in June 2027 gives you the same part of the ground from which to follow a different Ashes contest.

Three sessions in uncovered seats
The terrace has no roof over its seating. In the morning session, its western position receives sun, so put a hat and sunscreen where you can reach them without unpacking everything beneath your seat. On a bright June day, looking across the field from here means spending the opening hours in an exposed outdoor position.
After lunch, conditions become more mixed as the sun moves around behind the west side. That changing direction can make the terrace feel quite different from the sun-facing East Stand.
For the final session, the terrace’s west-side setting puts the sun farther behind you. Individual rows can still receive light, and an open seat can cool quickly when clouds arrive. Take a layer for the later overs; moving into another enclosure to find shelter requires the appropriate ticket permission.

Fanzone or another terrace enclosure?
Yorkshire’s general seating guide places fancy dress in Fanzone Blocks A and B. Popular and 1863 keep group seating on the terrace without fancy dress. For the women’s Ashes, choose the named category offered for your match day and read its conditions. The terrace’s familiar men’s-match reputation alone cannot tell you the size or mood of the 2027 crowd.
For a family wanting an alcohol-free seat, compare North East Lower Block R before choosing the Western Terrace. Yorkshire identifies that block as its alcohol-free family area in the general seating guide. An adult group choosing the terrace should agree on the enclosure together; booking nearby rows in different named zones may separate the group’s day.

Terrace steps, toilets and breaks
The Western Terrace has a sloping approach that bypasses entrance steps, but the ordinary seating rows are stepped. The designated front position is in Block A at the southern end; its companion seats are behind the wheelchair position. Arrange that location through Yorkshire’s accessible-ticket service if it suits your group, including the route from the entrance printed on the ticket.
Toilets sit behind the terrace on its concourse. The adapted toilet at the southern end uses a RADAR key, so identify the facility and ask a steward about access before settling into a long session. Keeping the correct terrace entrance in mind also makes the return from lunch simpler when several rows look similar.
The terrace seating area has no dedicated food outlet within it. Use the concessions around the ground and return to your named enclosure between overs. With uncovered seats, a refillable bottle is particularly useful; Yorkshire provides drinking water around Headingley.
Booking the Western Terrace for June 2027
Choose England women v Australia for 24–27 June 2027, then select the Western Terrace enclosure and day you want. The official seat selection gives the current price for that category. Compare a complete group of seats in Popular or 1863 with your Fanzone choice before paying, and keep the same enclosure name on everyone’s booking.
